I live in London and am an economist by training and instinct. I've worked over the years as an economist, researcher or policy analyst in government, banking and elsewhere.
My politics are moderately to the left of centre, but in a decidedly pluralist and pragmatic way. I read the Guardian and the Telegraph, the Economist and the New York Review of Books, academic journals and weblogs, conference papers and novels. I try to avoid the dumb, dogmatic, diffident and dull. I hate spin and boosterism of all kinds (unless of course it’s about me).
You won’t find much here about my private life. Nor my job. No office gripes or secrets will be revealed. For now I have chosen to remain anonymous, though that may well change.
This is a personal web site, produced in my own time and solely reflecting my personal opinions. Statements on this site do not represent the views or policies of my employers, past or present, or any other organisation with which I may be affiliated.
More later. For now, let’s get on with it…
