Back in early June I mentioned a big conference of European and American labour economists in San Francisco. Well Britain finally has something similar, albeit a somewhat smaller affair. The Work Pensions and Labour Economics (WPEG) held its first annual conference at the University of York between 18 and 20 July. Guest speeches were given by Richard Freeman, Daniel Hamermesh and Steve Machin. The conference papers can be found here; they're well worth a look.
You can also sign up to their email list for anouncements on future events. Next year's WPEG annual conference will be held at the University of Kent from 10 to 12 July 2006, and their next quarterly seminar is in London on October 14. The topic is pensions.
